Wired Home Security System

A wired home security system is simply a basic necessity these days. Yes, you can have a wireless alarm, but that is more expensive. However you cannot afford to have no home security alarm system at all. In fact, a wired home security system may be the best way to go, because of radio interference or jamming devices.

Unfortunately, everyone needs to have some form of home security system these days. We have all heard the stories about when granddad was a kid you could leave all the doors open etc.

And that was true. Mum had five kids to look after and was stuck at home all day. She had no time to go anywhere and so there was always someone in the house.

These days are different, there are fewer children per family and they are likely to be in day care or school and both parents are working, which leaves the house empty. And an empty house is a vulnerable house.

In general, shops have more ready cash than houses, which is why thieves have traditionally targeted them, but nowadays all shops have security cameras and alarm systems, so burglars have turned their attention to unprotected homes.

Many homes have a wired home security system and so if yours does not, then you are on someone's list to be done soon. It is as simple as that. You will be burgled as soon as they realize that your home is unprotected, because the number of places like that is dwindling every day.

There are several options when it comes to home security systems but the first one, whether to have a burglar alarm system or not, is a no-brainer. You cannot afford not to have one. The second decision is whether to install a wired home security system or wireless home security system.

This is a little more complex and comes down to money and belief. A wired home security system is cheaper to buy, but more expensive to install, because you have to hide the wires, if you want to do a good job. You have to tuck them behind skirtings, put up coving, chase them into plaster, redecorate etc, etc.

However, a non wired home security system (or wireless) is more expensive to buy, but far cheaper to install. Everybody knows that the labour element of a job usually outweighs the cost of the parts. A wireless system is generally considered to be superior to a wired home security system. However, you never hear anyone talking about radio interference, do you?

'Jamming' is the popular term for it, but I do not mean music practice. Signals can be jammed. I have never heard of thieves jamming the radio signals in someone's home security system yet, but it must be possible and if devices like that become widely available then Heaven help those who have spent more money on a non wired home security system.

A wired home security system kit is quite cheap these days and definitely cheaper than being burgled, even if you are insured. The best time to install a wired home security system is just before you redecorate, so maybe it is time you gave your home a make-over and put in a wired home security system at the same time.

You can install the components DIY, just make sure that you put in everything you need like: a hardwired control panel and siren siren (mains powered, not battery driven), motion sensors, window and door sensors and outdoor security lighting.
